Applying Rate Matrix Rating Information

Rate Matrix rating information is applied through a Rate Plan.  Refer to the Applying Rating Information section for more information on how to apply the Rate Plan.   The remainder of this section covers what will occur when a Rate Matrix is used to compute a rate.

When the Rate Matrix is in effect, a user will see an ellipses button attached to the Rate field.  This button will allow a user to access the Edit Advanced Rating Basis dialog, where they can change the values of the attributes associated to the rate.

When the dialog appears, a user can modify the values referenced by the matrix to compute the rate.  In the example from Figure 31 (below), a user has the ability to modify the Miles and Cubic Feet values and once they press Save, the rate will be recomputed based on the updated values.

Only fields actually referenced by the Rate Matrix will be visible within the Edit Advanced Rating Basis dialog.  Values changed within this dialog will only affect the rate and will not affect the order record.

Reminder: Changing values within Edit Advanced Rating Basis dialog only affects the rate applied and does not change the move information associated to the order record.

If a break point within the matrix is met, then the Edit Advanced Rating Basis dialog will display a Break Point Value.  This value will represent the tier that contains the rate that is use.  In the example in Figure 32 (below), a move of 178 miles has reached the breakpoint therefore the rate from the next tier will be used; the minimum value of the qualifying tier, “201” in the example, will display as the Break Point Value for the charge.

All the Rate Matrix values used when computing a rate are stored in the Rate RateMatrixXYBasis, QuoteDetailRateMatrixXYBasis, or QuoteGroupRateMatrixXYBasis tables; the latter two being specifically for a quote record, while the former is for all others.
