From the Contents pane, a user can open a book by clicking on the book icon () and a list of sub-topics will display beneath it.  A user can continue opening books throughout the topic.  The user must click directly on the book icon in order to access the topics beneath the listed subject.  When the book is successfully opened the open book icon () will appear.

Figure 2: Open topic and open book example

In the example above Figure 2 , the user has clicked on the book icon next to the Move Management Services (MMS) topic to open the book.  Within this book, the user clicked only the Bookmark topic name (not the book icon next to the topic) and the application only listed the page contents associated to that topic; it does not, however, open the Bookmarks book.  When only the topic name has been selected it will appear in bold font, as in “Bookmarks” above.

Another means of browsing through a topic is by using the backward  and forward  topic buttons.  These buttons will allow the user to work through a topic in the intended flow.  Pressing the forward button, for example, will take a user to the next logical topic.  These buttons are different than the backward and forward buttons available from a web browser, which direct a user to previously viewed web pages.

Topic links are also inscribed at the top of the page when a user is within a topic.  The highest-level topics start at the left and get more specific as they move to the right.  The words in between the arrows “>” are hyperlinks that will take the user to the particular topic.  These links are referred to as “Breadcrumbs” and they are intended to help the user navigate through a topic.

Figure 3: Breadcrumb example.

In the example above, the topic entitled Move Management Services (MMS) is the highest level topic, or book, while Extra Stops Setup is topic that the user is currently viewing.   From this, a user knows that they are inside of specific topic on Extra Stops setup which is part of the Extra Stops topic that belongs with the general Move Management Services (MMS) topic.
